Dawn is an artist because she can’t imagine being or doing anything else — it’s BIG FUN!!! Dee is always chasing that "Wow, did I make that?!" moment. She loves to learn and experiment, and so has recently begun sculpting in leather and fiber in addition to her work with various types of clay — she is fascinated with the anatomy of the human and how it can be morphed into the fantastic, and will work in any medium that will allow her to illustrate her vision.
Sometimes a sculpt will start with a sketch, more often she just starts moving clay around. Dee would like to do "dark" work, but somehow her pieces always turn funny. Someone remarked the other day, "She sculpts happy!" Most of her work is fantasy oriented, and she have become known for her oddfae — silly, quirky li'l fae guys that live in watches, jewelry, shells and pods. Her larger figures are often dancing or lending a helping hand. She often gets frustrated when a tool won't meet her needs, so she ends up making her own...
