Stephanie Kilgast

Stephanie has a very simple attitude about her work, and to an extent about her life. She does what she loves. That's about it. Of course, she is always taking her work to a more artistic level. She describes herself as sculpting what makes her happy with the simple goal of making others happy too. A guiding principle is the work on colors. She is a big fan of abstract paintings, Kandinsky's work. She tends to work around color schemes, thus rendering the work even more appetizing to the eye.

Stephanie sculpts miniature food solely with polymer clay, finding inspiration in real food, may it be in restaurants, grocery stores, cookbooks or even food blogs. Most of her work is done with a simple toothpick and a pin, though she does have more sophisticated tools. Much of her work is also made simpler thanks to the use of molds that she sculpts herself. Using her mold gives her a start and she then finalizes and refines each pieceto guarantee a delicate enough finish.

Stephanie has training in Art formation and a master degree in architecture. She learned a lot from Angie Scarr at the beginning, and through browsing tutorials on the internet.

Stephanie has been featured in several magazines and blogs, including: Etsy.com - Featured seller; The Telegraph; BBC Brazil; LA Weekly; NOTCOT. Stephanie was recently filmed for Deutsche Welle TV in their program "Euromaxx."
