Sylvie Peraud
Making jewelry has been part of Sylvie’s hobbies since childhood. Beads when she was young, melted recycled plastics later and polymer clay since 2005. Inspiration is everywhere around her, when walking in the nature, when discovering other art mediums, when reading a book. What she loves best is making faux: faux wood and faux stones. The closer she gets to the real material, the happier she is. Working with a medium as versatile as polymer clay makes it endless.
When working with polymer clay, there are no limits other than those you fix to yourself. It has led Sylvie to create a simple but bluffing imitation of denim. Usually clay is the only material, but she can also add things to it when imitating ceramics for instance, or pebbles. Everything that can help achieve a close to real imitation will be used. Her work is characterized by perfect finishes and clean design.
Sylvie is a totally self-taught artist, but finds that her painting, drawing and modeling skills have been of great help. She started teaching in 2006, first locally in France, then was offered the great opportunity to teach in England and very recently in the USA and Belgium. These workshops are the opportunity to share her working techniques and her creations.
In 2009, she co-founded the french polymer clay association called Lezart'gil.
