Scroll Bead Bracelet with Jana Roberts Benzon

Take one of your own triangle canes and learn how to transform it into a unique and beautiful bracelet! In this broadcast, learn to make "Scroll" Beads, with their delicate look and feel - they're so lightweight! You will also learn a method for easily creating accent beads, and with those beads and the scroll beads, how to construct a bracelet with crimps, crimp covers, and a clasp.

Class Materials List

• Polymer Clay as follows:
     o Polymer clay triangle cane, approximately 1" measurement on all three sides and a MINIMUM of 2.5" in length
     o Two colors of clay that coordinate with cane, 1/2 ounce each (one will be for wrapping the triangle cane, the other for creating the accent beads)
     o Scrap clay, three good sized 'lumps'
• Paintbrush
• Tapered tip rubber tipped tool - optional (available at misterart.com) or a toothpick
• New, very sharp blade - either a thin "tissue" blade or a stiff blade
• One pin, piece of wire or tube for each bead you're making (in this tutorial, it's five), each at least 2" long.
• The pins I have shown are "stick pins" purchased from firemountaingems.com). This pin, wire or tube will determine bead hole size.
• Two eyelets for each bead (10 total) that fit well on the pins you're using (above). The eyelets pictured are 1/16". Eyelets can be purchased from volcanoarts.com
• Bead stringing wire, 12" • Index card
• Jewelry tools: pliers, crimp tool (for the size crimps you choose to use), and wire cutters
• Ranger Distress Embossing Powder, optional, in coordinating color(s)
• Liquid clay
• Cornstarch
• Two or three small ceramic tiles
• Pin
• Superglue
• An old toothbrush
• Pasta Machine and Crank (dedicated to polymer use... not food!)
• Beadcaps, optional, ten minimum
• Crimps, two
• Crimp covers, optional, two
• Closed jump rings
• Clasp with jump ring
• Plastic wrap or plastic deli sheets
• Work Surface - I highly prefer glass
