Samantha Perkins

Miami University

Samantha teaches and practices as a graphic designer. Her work typically focuses on designing elements that lead people between elements within her pieces, either visually or through touch. Samantha finds inspiration in the three-dimensional aspects of book design, and how changes in paper type, color, and/or size can alter how a reader approaches a book.

While Samantha finds herself designing most of her work on the computer, she sees much better results from her finished pieces when she prints them out and somehow adds a "human touch" to them—whether slicing and pasting multiple items together, or coloring in marker over "final" pieces.

Samantha Perkins received her BS in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her MFA with a concentration in graphic design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She has won numerous awards for her design and architecture work from regional and work, Knowhere: Finding the Ways We Wayfind, has received multiple design awards, and has earned Smantha invitations to participate in multiple education and professional conferences.
