Angie Scarr

Angie started exploring nature in miniature as a child using paper and paint crayons and scissors. Always a little obsessed with colour in nature, she was instantly hooked when polymer clay first appeared on the market. But it took her another few years to make her hobby into her living. Around 25 years ago, at a time when most miniatures were simply sculpted and painted, Angie took the world of millefiori and jewellery making techniques into the miniatures world, always happiest concentrating on ingredients rather than miniature meals.

Angie is known for her realistic mixing of nature's colours using millefiori and liquid polymer techniques as well as mixing polymer clay and liquid with other materials. She also uses moulding techniques 'grabbing' the fractal forms of nature to provide miniature versions of its own larger shapes.

She is also known for her enthusiastic sharing of ideas. She's taught more than one generation of miniaturists and changed the way miniatures are routinely made through her instructional videos, magazine articles, books and classes in Europe, Japan, Australia and the USA.  Her books Miniature Food and Market Stalls and Miniature Food Masterclass are bestsellers in their field. Angie is currently self publishing a series of smaller books in both paper and digital formats and is  exploring other aspects of nature in polymer clay including miniature gardens.

Angie is delighted to be joining the instructors on CraftArtEdu and to be able to bring a more detailed classroom-like experience to those who are unable to attend her classes in person, or who prefer to work and play in their own quiet workspaces.
